Embedded Software Development & 3D Vision Engineering Intern - Iris Biometrics
Since our founding, IDEMIA Public Security has been on a mission to unlock the world and make it safer through our cutting-edge identity technologies. Our technology leadership makes us the partner of choice for hundreds of governments and thousands of enterprises in over 180 countries, including some of the biggest and most influential brands in the world. In applying our unique expertise in biometrics and cryptography, we enable our clients to unlock simpler and safer ways to pay, connect, access, identify, travel and protect public places – at scale and in total security.
Our teams work from 5 continents and speak 100+ different languages. We strongly believe that our diversity is a key driver of innovation and performance.
Purpose
As part of our work on innovative iris recognition solutions, we are developing a demonstrator combining embedded software development, computer vision and 3D sensors. This 6-month internship is based in Osny, starting in March 2027.
The aim of the internship is to contribute to the design and implementation of a complete software pipeline capable of detecting a user’s eyes, estimating their position in three dimensions and automatically controlling an optical system to capture iris images.
The internship covers the entire development cycle, from low-level hardware integration to the development of a PC demonstration application, including video stream acquisition, inter-processor communication, data processing and system validation.
Key Missions
As part of the development team, you will:
• Design and develop the platform’s software components in C/C++.
• Integrate various devices into a distributed multiprocessor architecture running embedded Linux and an RTOS.
• Develop communication interfaces and data exchange mechanisms between the different subsystems.
• Implement video stream acquisition and synchronization.
• Process and fuse data from an RGB camera and a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor to estimate the 3D position of the eyes.
• Implement calibration and geometric registration methods for the different sensors.
• Develop the processing algorithms required to automatically control the optical system.
• Design a PC application to visualize and analyze data in real time.
• Contribute to debugging, performance analysis, optimization and overall validation of the demonstrator.
The internship will result in a fully integrated, functional demonstrator combining image acquisition, 3D localization, automatic control and real-time visualization.
